Portrait in broad daylight

There was a murmur of chatter and laughs in the courtyard before it ended in a second.  You could hear your own heartbeat.

When she walked down the aisle, the silence was only interrupted by a few gasps among the crowd.

She was beaming, a precedent Jennifer set and continued throughout the day.

Some of my favorites…

After I grabbed some shots of Jennifer and her father, I whipped around to grab her soon to be husband.

The enthusiasm, hope, dreams, anticipation and excitement was all wrapped up in that gorgeous grin…

This beautiful couple, Jen and Dan, committed their life to each other in front of a backdrop of pink roses, smiling faces and love.

Much thanks to The Desmond Hotel in Albany, whose staff and accomodations made for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon!

After they were married, there was a moment they just stared into each other’s eyes with ease and joy.  It was spectacular!

The reception was fantastic.  I was eagerly anticipating what they had up their sleeve for their first dance.  Word was they had practiced…and it didn’t disappoint!

They looked like ballroom dancers up there, look at these moves!

The guests had some moves of their own.  here’s the maid of honor being swung around by her lovely man…and she’s looking fab doing it!

Special shouts to the awesome dj, who kept people on their feet all night! Mike Sylvia was amazing!

The surroundings inside the Desmond gave a little west coast, tropical kind of feel to the formals! Not that this couple needed to heat things up anymore!

Bridesmaid dresses by David’s Bridal. Bride’s dress by Paloma Blanca, bought at Angela’s Bridal in Guilderland, NY.  Makeup and hair by Kimberley’s in Latham.

I alway try to get a few shots when they’re unaware I’m still shooting.  Holding hands, about to face the world.

Much love to you both, I am so honored I got to meet you, know you, and photograph your perfect day!

Jen & Dan: Albany Wedding Pt 1

The instant Jennifer e-mailed me, I knew I would like her.  And through our hundreds of e-mails – some work related, some definitely not! – her spirit came through.  She is fun, personable and kind.  Of course when I met Jen and Dan at the Capitol for their engagement session, I wasn’t disappointed.  It’s hard for [...]

It’s hard for me to explain how awesome these two are, or how apparent their love is for each other.  But when I was culling images, I found this one photo, and I thought…that’s SO her!

So, here is the photo.  It’s the morning of her wedding day.  She is relaxed.  Adoring people around her.  Smiling.  Happy.

That’s just how she is…and how she was the entire day…

Most of the time, I have to wait for the moment when a bride smiles at something going on…with Jennifer…she smiled the entire time!

Makeup and hair by the very talented and wonderful gals over at Kimberley’s.

The dress was gorgeous, classic, timeless…Jen added some personal touches as well…

Getting ready for the big moment…

After the stunning bride was ready, I snuck over to find her lovely hubby to be…

Looking sharp my man!

Billiards time!

The best man tries to show us what he’s got.  Everyone had pretty impressive form!

A big thanks to all who made the day smooth, fun and memorable:

Today’s mission: Go to restaurants and kitchens across Connecticut and photograph a number of dishes for a recipe contest.  Done.  Sign me up.  Now.  Yes!
Oh and I get to taste test? Shut up! I’m there!

I absolutely adore his parents (and his big sis who is always an absolute joy and super fun to photograph), but this session is about him, so here are my favorites during our time together during a recent NYC morning!

His grandma knitted an awesome little blue bed for him to nest in…love it!

I just liked his facial expression on this next one…

LOVE these parent shots! Gorgeous mama and I ganged up on daddy to take his shirt off and pose!

And the sweet, sweet mama shots.  Yes, she is this stunning and more so in real life…

There has never been a photo of this family I didn’t love…

As always had a great time photographing this amazing family! Thank you for the honor guys! See ya soon!

I’ve been shooting high school graduations all week.  It’s actually really fun to hear inspirational speeches and see hope filled smiles.  My camera remains pressed up to my face the entire time so I can grab anything at an instant.  Still, you miss a lot of shots because things happen in a split second.  This next photo is one such case. The School Board President asked which students were going into the military.  You can see one hand raised up high…but I couldn’t get the right angle for it to really pop.  Its ending up on the junk list, but I still like the sentiment of the photo and thought maybe you would too.  The full gallery is here.

Only in my dreams does a day start with a typical photo shoot, then turns into a space odyssey, then a cake smash…and now a baby announcement! Could it get better? No, no it can’t.

OK, let me calm down and start from the beginning… Meet Evan, a terrific, personable, adorable little boy who is a snap to photograph.  He wasn’t feeling well on the day of the photo shoot but you’d never know it.  He is never selfish with the smiles, and I am so grateful! We started off with Evan’s fave activity…reading…

This is just an obligatory face shot because I’m in love with his beautiful brown eyes…and I knew you would be too.

And then it happened.  They busted out the space gear.  And I flipped out with excitement.  EPIC PROPS PEOPLE!!! (Are you taking notes?!)

As if that weren’t enough…we brought out a cake to celebrate his 1 year old birthday.  And when he grabbed the cake we all kind of looked at each other…

and then he looked at us, as if to say “Is this ok? Why am I not being told no?” So he grabbed the cake…and it couldn’t be cuter…

Who could blame him? Little Evan dug down and grabbed some of that delicious cake!

Also word has been released that little Evan is about to be a big brother! YESSS! This amazing family just got some phenomenal news and I really couldn’t be happier for them.  They are so lovely, personable, kind and generous.  Thanks SO MUCH Melissa, Dan and of course Marilyn who is always a huge asset to any photo shoot! Love you guys a ton!

Here’s to grabbing cake with your hands and not caring if anyone is watching…

-xoxo
