Covering all kinds of basketball action this week. It is tournament time, so naturally there are winners and losers. This team is full of winners, but they happen to have lost tonight…which means they are out of the tournament. There are some great kids I’ve had the honor of seeing them play, interviewing them. I’m sure they will go far in life.

These ladies move so impressively fast…sometimes I just don’t get the shot! Here is one that didn’t make the cut… I still like it, but it’s a little too blurry for publication! Check out the gallery, here…
They’re high school ‘kids,” but my oh my are they good! I love this shot. This kid played his heart out, even got injured, got back up, shook it off and finished the game. Unbelievable. They’re making me a sports fan slowly but surely! Full gallery here.

Basketball season is actually coming to an END! Can you believe it? What will I take photos of? Well you’ll have to stick around and find out…
Today was an insane day…was up at the crack of dawn (for me that’s 9am) then had appointments in the morning, then shooting in the afternoon and night. So, you know that old wives tale that drunk people always tell at bars…that the more alcohol you drink, the better you are at pool or darts? (shows you the type of people I hang out with) Well, in my case, the more caffeine I consume, the better shooter I am! It helped when I had a night basketball game tonight! Notice a difference between this picture and yesterdays? You should. There is a TON of grain here – the gym was exceptionally dark! My camera is at 3200 ISO here. Typically I can shoot a game at 1200 ISO. It looks cruddy, but you gotta do what you gotta do! I don’t like to light basketball games with a ton of flashes anymore because I find the harsh shadows are too distracting. Sometimes I luck out (as in yesterday) and I get really clean shots! (pun intended)
You may be sick of seeing all my basketball posts, but I gotta admit, I never tire of shooting them!
I covered the most exciting girls basketball ever with this game…came down to the last second. I looked at another photographer afterward and it was like we had just gotten out of battle together. He just shook his head and smiled…I was speechless. (Probably because I didn’t breathe for the last 2 minutes of the game…I just shot and shot and shot.) It really is spectacular to see these young, talented girls excel, and it’s a nice thought knowing that when these make the sports section of the newspaper, they will likely keep the shots for the rest of their life. They don’t know who I am, but I know who they are, and when I think of these moments, they will be fond memories.
