Fairly Difficult

Once you cover one fair or festival, you’ve covered them all.  They’re great fun of course, but photowise, it’s always challenging finding something new and interesting.  Face painting? Been done.  Kids enjoying cotton candy? Puh-lease.  So as I was wandering around this weekly fair which I’ve covered quite a big this summer…I tried to push [...]

Been done.  Kids enjoying cotton candy? Puh-lease.  So as I was wandering around this weekly fair which I’ve covered quite a big this summer…I tried to push myself to get creative.  This is one of a few that I came up with.  Two women selling jewelry.  (I’ve done worse!)

It was a sunny day at Topsmead State Forest in Litchfield, CT and the company could not have been better.  With her super fun and sweet personality, Cerise brought her “A game” for senior pictures! I think her beauty shines from the inside out and I could not have been more thrilled with the results.  She made it so easy, all I had to do was follow her and press some buttons.  Done and done! Some of my favorites during our time together…

After we wrapped up at the park, I wanted to take advantage of the golden sunset unfolding…she led me to water, literally…so we could finish up the shoot in some glorious glow!

Yes, she’s completely stunning…love these looks!

Cerise, you are truly amazing.  You have more style, class and brains than people I know double your age! Adore you!!

xoxo

The portraits of the two of them together all came out fabulous.  They are so natural and in love, it really made my job super easy! The one of Katie on the right….FIERCE!

A couple after my chubby little heart…they rolled out this stunning cake…and as if that weren’t enough, they set up an entire dessert spread! The make your own ice cream sundae table could be the best. Idea. Ever…I’m just saying…

Spectacular flower bouquets by Stop and Shop.

Reception candids! These are always some of my favorites because it’s what unfolds when the bride and groom are busy elsewhere and when they see the photos they’re always surprised! When you add children, always some special and fun moments! Love!

I have a little photographic fun with the super reflective floors…

Katie and Kevin, thank you for the honor! The day was as perfect as you!! Good luck and much love to ya! xoxo

With a bright blue sky overhead, warm sunshine, and love in the air, it was a perfect day for wedded bliss.  I had the honor and pleasure of photographing Katie & Kevin’s wedding in Connecticut on a recent glorious Saturday.  At every turn, relatives and friends were smiling and laughing.  Katie was absolutely breathtaking.  I loved all of the details of this wedding, including the gorgeous ceremony and reception site.  A few of my favorites from this perfect day…

The girls did their hair at Shear Image in Newtown.  The ladies did a great job, the girls looked fab!

Back at the Waterview I shot some last minute makeup preparations and then ran upstairs to check in with the guys…

After that, the girls were pretty much ready to roll! GORGEOUS!

Bride and bridesmaid dresses by David’s Bridal. Tomorrow, the wedding!

Every day I walk to work, I look up at a huge clock tower staring back at me.  I am appreciative that I get to work out of such an interesting and unique building in a great location.  It used to serve as a train station and now it is housed with offices and a giant printing press for the newspaper.  I have been wanting to climb up that tower since I spotted it almost exactly two years ago.  When the opportunity came, I nudged myself into the adventure! I am not really one for heights…as I was climbing my knees got soft and my stomach got a tad queasy.  I am such a wimp.  Luckily there was a railing that I clung to, all the while thinking…”just don’t faint in front of these people…”

The shots from up top were worth it though! First, you can see the tower and it’s history, here.

Working on a new segment that showcases neighborhood blight.  I’ll be going out and capturing people and places who are living next to and — in most cases — fighting against rundown areas.  The blog is here. You can find a video I did here.  More to come!

For the past ten days, I’ve had involvement in shooting video and stills for a river canoe trip through MA and CT.  It finished today so I expect I’ll be more active on this here blog (and you won’t see as many landscape attempts, sadly…ha ha!).  Covering a trip like this and doing multiple shoots for web and for the newspaper I work for, you can imagine I was really hard pressed to seek out unique pictures.  It was good to push myself to get shots that are different.  Of course, there are only so many variations on a river.  So today I pushed myself to get different angles and push the envelope.  To see some more photos, check out this blog we did. (I feel like it should be mentioned that I gave a ton better photos to the newspaper to use for the print edition, and the blog photos were secondary to that.)

I also produced a video of the guides and people on the trip.  To watch my video, click here.

It was a fun trip with great weather and I got to shoot outside in some cool conditions with nice people.  Granted, I had to get up at 5am more than a few times and to be truthful…I am NOT a morning person.  Tomorrow… I SLEEP!
