Allow me to gush for just a moment.  I love shooting maternity shots.  I could shoot them exclusively for the rest of my life and be happy as I am at the Christmas Eve buffet table.  From a technical perspective, it really allows you to play with light and accentuate the gorgeous female form.  And with someone like Latoya, she’s just so beautiful and easy to work with!

I did my normal light versus dark, sexy yet sweet, mama-to-be shots…

Ok, so it doesn’t hurt that she’s stunning and relaxed in front of the camera…a total natural!

For moms-to-be, all of my maternity shots are done in the comfort and privacy of your own home, with my portable studio.  And if stripping down when you’re pregnant sounds fearful, it shouldn’t be.  I’m as relaxed as they come and I guarantee you’ll be glad you documented this (potentially) once in a lifetime event!

I barely know them, but I can already say unequivocally: These two will be magnificent parents.  On a steamy, humid NYC day I charged into the life of Rita and Melvin.  They couldn’t have been more gracious, fun, or accommodating.  On a day that has the potential to be misery for an expectant mom…Rita made it easy and relaxed.  She kept making sure *I* was ok (what, sweating a gallon in an hour isn’t normal?!)  She had some great ideas and really brought it! We tried a number of different lighting combinations and I really love how these came out.  I feel their spirit and love for each other just reaches out and hugs you.  Some of my favorites during our time together…

I am a huge proponent of doing sexy mom shots as well.  Rita was totally fine with the idea and while I won’t showcase them here, I always tell moms they should just go for it.  Despite how you feel, there is nothing more beautiful than a pregnant woman.  The shape and form is gorgeous…and even if you never look at the sexy or naked photos again, when you look back in twenty years I almost guarantee you will say to yourself, “Damn, look at me…I was hot!”

They call this Baby Boy, Baby Bee…  All I know, is he is capital B for Beautiful Boy! And baby was he SO, SO GOOD for his newborn session! I absolutely adore his parents (and his big sis who is always an absolute joy and super fun to photograph), but this session is about him, so here are my favorites during our time together during a recent NYC morning!

His grandma knitted an awesome little blue bed for him to nest in…love it!

Sometimes you just know.  You know upon meeting someone that you will love them and connect.  Rayza, with her smile, laugh and spirit, had me at hello.  I photographed her and her husband back when she was 3 months pregnant around New York City.  And now, at 8 months, she has gotten even more beautiful.  She had an idea of doing a sexy mom-to-be shoot, and I’m ALL about celebrating the beauty of a pregnant woman! I’m not going to show you the super sexified ones…but TRUST…she was jaw dropping! It is hard to believe that she is even more spectacular in real life than she is in these pictures, but trust me, she — and her gorgeous husband Charlie — are remarkable.  They will be superb parents and I am honored I got to hang with them during their journey!

Love the lines and dimension of this window from a high rise apartment building in Brooklyn.  Super THANK YOU to Rayza’s friend (you know who you are!) who let us trash the place, ha ha…

I did a short video of Charlie and Rayza for fun, to give you an idea of the possibilities before the baby is born (just grab a video camera and do it yourself!) Rayza and Charlie,  you two are so lovely, good luck on this next chapter!

It’s been said before: There is something about a beautiful woman who is pregnant.  This mom-to-be is no exception.  Gracious and smiling throughout the entire session (and it’s not easy walking around Central Park in heels when it’s cold and blustery!), Rayza is the textbook definition of a glowing expectant mother.

Kind, fun and absolutely gorgeous, she is the reason I love my job! Photographing couples reinvigorates me.
