I cover lacrosse maybe once a year.  For some reason, I love it.  I find it really interesting, even though I never have any clue what’s going on… Check out and click here for the full gallery.

Sorry I’ve been completely M.I.A. lately.  I have a ton of portrait, wedding and sports photos to share so accept my apologies while I catch up and try to shape up!

There is something about people doing things in midair that completely fascinates me from a photography standpoint.  It really never gets old.

And as I sat at this track meet shooting athletes one after another, I immediately looked through my LCD screen to see what I got.

Click, click, click, click…. look at screen…think to myself…Did I get the jump at the perfect height?

Click, click, click, click…. look at screen…Can we see the strain in the athlete’s face?

I shot way more than I normally do at a sports event.  Normally I don’t even look at the photo.  I already know I have the shot.  (And if I don’t, it’s too late anyway)

But I was so fascinated I kept reviewing the same photos…couldn’t wait to get home and edit them!

One more…

I stood there in the pouring rain wearing a black dress with black heels peeking out of my long wool coat.  The afternoon’s baseball game was dotted with pithy comments.  “Who is punishing you?” an umpire quipped from first base.  A mom laughed from the stands, “Do you want my umbrella?” The game ran into it’s third hour and I still didn’t have any great shots.  At this point the mascara was smeared every which way and my hair curled up into kinks.  Another ump clearly noticed, then jeered, “We’re gonna keep you here ALL night!” I laughed right back.

Yes, it was true.  I showed up to shoot a baseball game in heels.  I don’t own a raincoat.  Truthfully, I think raincoats are ugly.  I’d rather be wet.  It wasn’t the first time I wasn’t prepared for the weather and I’m sure it won’t be the last.  The forecast is not one of the things I check before I head out for the day.  Whether my shoes match my dress? That takes precedence…even if both end up soaked.
